In many impoverished communities, sports is the last place you’d see a girl.
Most families in extreme poverty need their girls to work to help bring food to the table. No time for sports.
Others see it as a distraction because girls should be learning domestic chores like cooking or caring for children.
But competitive sports holds numerous benefits for young girls as they grow.
The Brunk Memorial Sports Complex is a place where girls can break records on and off the field.
The Brunk Memorial Sports Complex is a capital campaign by Nava Jeevan, a k-12 private school in Visakhapatnam, India.
Nava Jeevan has been providing world-class educational programming for both urban students and those from the impoverished rural countryside regardless of their social caste, economic class, or ethnic background. Here both boys and girls are challenged to excel in all areas of academics and sports.
The complex is being built in memory of Gene Brunk, a long-time supporter of Nava Jeevan. One of his dreams was to see the girls of Visakhapatnam know just how loved they are and flourish like his own beloved daughter.
The Brunk Memorial Sports Complex is a place for girls to set the pace and realize their potential on the field.
