India’s Daughters: Telling Their Story – A Photojournalism Project
Oppression and violence of women continue to exist today because it lives in the dark. Especially within impoverished areas, women are silenced by the threat of physical, social, and emotional harm.
The average person living in a developed country has no idea that…
- Over 750 million girls around the world are being forced into child marriages, effectively cutting off the possibility of going to school, getting a job, or escaping poverty.
- Over 50% of female homicide victims were murdered by a close family member or partner.
- Over 70% of sex trafficking victims are female.
As long as gender-based violence and oppression stays hidden, it will persist. The first step to ending the cycle of abuse of women is to shine the light on their struggle.
India’s Daughters is a project devoted to telling the story of women in India who are fighting to break social stigmas, cultural barriers, and generational poverty in front of them.
Help tell their story. Raise awareness of their struggle and give them a voice! Give to help create India’s Daughters: Telling Their Story.
